Bluewater Hawks Midget AA - Introductory Letter
The Bluewater Hawks Midget AA team is seeking the following qualities in prospective 2000, 2001 and 2002 born players:

- high compete level
- speed, agility and strong skill set
- sport  IQ (the ability to make good decisions quickly, in pressure situations and on the fly)
- team play
- coachability

All girls with 2000, 2001 and 2002 birth years currently residing in the southwestern  Ontario region are eligible and are welcomed to attend these tryout sessions. Players from other OWHA associations must bring a PTS form signed by the correct official from their home association if they wish to attend. Girls who played Alliance /OMHA or for the BGHA in the 2016-17 season do not require these forms.  Players must also pay the required tryout fee before stepping on the ice. To facilitate this process, we strongly encourage prospective players to complete the tryout registration online prior to their arrival.

Our focus in BGHA is the promotion and development of players through our organization. The end goal for some  in MAA may be to play for our IAA Bluewater Hawks in future seasons. Girls playing MA and BAA may look to jump up to the MAA level. I have been communicating with Howie Thompson, Bluewater Midget A coach. We hope to work together whenever and wherever possible to provide opportunities for players within our system to be able to do this.

It is anticipated that a team assessment of at least $2000+ will apply to each player who is selected to play for next year’s team. This fee will be paid according to a schedule that will be shared in an inaugural meeting with the parent group following the selection of the final roster. This assessment covers ice time for games and practices, fees for officials, tournament entry fees and other associated expenses that come with running a competitive AA hockey team. The team is most likely to practice and play at both rinks in Strathroy (Gemini/West Middlesex) next season.  If necessary, ice time may even be purchased in neighbouring municipalities. The team will be playing in several tournaments next year beginning with the Stoney  Creek  Showcase event in September 2017 followed by the USA-Canada Cup tournaments in Fraser MI and Kitchener ON.

A complete coaching and trainer group for the team will be announced following the selection of the final roster. After committing to the final roster, players will be required to sign a commitment agreement form and pay a deposit of $300 towards their assessment fee.  This fee will be non-refundable.  Prospective players may be offered a roster spot after the first or second tryout.

If you have any questions about our association, our team or the tryout process, please contact me at your earliest convenience so that we may have a conversation. I welcome any and all queries.  My cell # is (519) 359-0512, my home phone is (519)351-7044 and my email is [email protected].  I look forward to hearing from prospective players and their parents in the days leading up to April tryouts.  Best of luck to all players  in the 2017-18 season and beyond.

Yours in hockey,

Joel Bélanger – Bluewater Midget AA 2017-18
